About The Position
The Quality Engineer Intern will support the Quality team in maintaining and improving quality systems and processes within a regulated medical device manufacturing environment. This internship provides hands-on experience with quality engineering activities while working closely with experienced Quality Engineers to learn ISO 13485, quality systems, and cross-functional collaboration.

Work Location/Schedule

  • This position requires the employee to be onsite at our VitalPath Maplewood, MN location
  • Shift/Schedule: Monday-Friday flexible day hours based on interns availability (up to 40 hours a week)
  • Duration: Summer internship (can start as early at May depending on selected interns school schedule)
  • VitalPath does not offer relocation assistance for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Support manufacturing, inspection, qualification, and validation of products.
  • Assist with quality improvements initiatives and continuous improvement projects.
  • Learn and support Quality Management system (QMS), ISO 13485:2016, and customer/regulatory requirements.
  • Learn how to work with customers and suppliers to resolve quality related issues.
  • Conduct failure investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Work cross functionally with other in-hours departments & contract manufacturers.
  • Develop, review, and update-controlled documents such as Procedures, Manufacturing Procedures, Work Instructions, Forms, etc.
  • Review and approve customer and internal drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure that records are established, accurate and maintained per QMS requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excl, Word, Outlook)
  • Ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment

Compensation Package

  • The hourly range for this position is $18 - $25. The posted hourly range complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as market conditions, level of experience and training, education, certifications, as well as internal and external equity.
