JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain Coding Expertise & Professional Growth

Keep current with official coding guidelines , CMS updates, payer rules, and regulatory standards.

Identify personal learning needs and integrate new knowledge into daily practice.

Complete continuing education to maintain required coding credentials.

Perform Accurate, Ethical Medical Coding

Review and screen electronic medical records to abstract required statistical and clinical data.

Assign ICD‑10‑CM and CPT codes using 3M encoding software , coding manuals, and department guidelines.

Enter complete and reliable coded information into Epic and/or Fastrack systems.

Review encounters on bill hold, ensuring timely resolution of documentation or coding issues.

Drive Billing Readiness & Revenue Accuracy

Meet or exceed productivity expectations and coding accuracy standards.

Submit coding activity logs on schedule and manage workload to meet departmental AR and bill-hold deadlines.

Support timely billing by resolving missing documentation, coding edits, and clarification needs with clinical teams.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent

No experience required

Certification/credentialed as Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) OR Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) OR Registered Health Information Admin (RHIA) OR Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Certified Coding Associate (CCA) Certified professional Coder Apprentice (CPC-A) Certified Coding Specialist -Physician (CCS-P) OR Eligible to sit for credentials exam. Must obtain credentials within 6 months of employment
