Role Overview:

The Concrete Superintendent is responsible for overseeing day-to-day concrete operations on assigned projects, ensuring quality workmanship, safety compliance, and adherence to schedule. This role works closely with the General or Sr. Superintendent and field crews to deliver successful concrete installations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Crew Supervision

  • Directly supervises and coordinates concrete crews, including finishers, laborers, and equipment operators.
  • Ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and meets quality standards.
  • Provides hands-on guidance and supports crew development through on-the-job training.
  • Maintains positive team morale through clear communication and feedback.

Job/Site Coordination

  • Reviews project plans and specifications with the Project Superintendent before starting work.
  • Organizes daily work activities and allocates labor and equipment to meet project priorities.
  • Communicates progress and issues to the Project Superintendent regularly.
  • Assists in setting up mock-ups and verifying quality before installation.

Schedule & Productivity

  • Tracks daily production and compares against project goals.
  • Coordinates material deliveries and equipment needs to avoid delays.
  • Identifies potential schedule impacts and reports them promptly.
  • Helps implement recovery plans for minor delays under guidance from senior leadership.

Safety & Compliance

  • Conducts daily safety checks and enforces site safety rules.
  • Leads toolbox talks and ensures crew compliance with OSHA standards.

Documentation

  • Completes daily reports, including labor hours, material usage, and progress photos.
  • Maintains accurate records of work performed and communicates updates to the project team.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in concrete construction, including vertical and structural work.
  • Strong understanding of concrete techniques and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred;
  • First Aid/CPR certification required.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

Working Conditions:

Construction jobsite, warehouse and office conditions, which include exposure to high temperatures; cool/cold temperatures; weather conditions, and loud noises. Some general office and construction trailer working conditions. Job site walking. This position will include predominantly 6-day work weeks, and potential daily overtime. It is expected that this role will be on site at all times when field personnel are working with the exception of scheduled time away from the site.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level and spend additional time on the physical job site or construction trailer. Job site walking.
