Professional work in the auditing of Palm Beach County's governmental activities. Conducts and/or supervises performance audits (as defined by Government Auditing Standards) of governmental activities; evaluates programs or organizations for effectiveness, efficiency, and/or economy of operations; evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of management controls over such activities and determines whether the activities are in compliance with laws, policies, procedures, and good business practices. Work is performed with a wide latitude of independent judgment and is reviewed through periodic meetings with and audit reports provided to Audit Management. General supervision is provided by the Internal Audit Manager and/or the Internal Auditor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's Degree in Public/Business Administration, Accounting, Computer Science, Journalism, Management, or related field; minimum of six (6) years of professional auditing, administrative/fiscal duties, program evaluation, contract compliance, grant evaluation, procurement or purchasing, that includes four (4) years of internal auditing experience. Equivalencies : Related Master's Degree AND five (5) years of related experience, that includes four (4) years of internal auditing experience OR related Associate's Degree AND seven (7) years of related experience, that includes four (4) years of internal auditing experience OR graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification AND ten (10) years of related experience, that includes four (4) years of internal auditing experience.
Necessary Special Requirements : Must be certified in one of the following at time of hire: Certified Government Audit Professional (CGAP), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Certified Inspector General Auditor (CIGA), or Certified Control Self-Assessment (CCSA) .
PREFERENCE FOR : Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA); experience in an audit environment following Government Auditing Standards; related Master's Degree.
