Design Director

Our truly unique client is seeking a Design Director to lead the creative vision for their sports and entertainment division, which produces large-scale events such as sporting tournaments, music festivals, and high-profile entertainment experiences. This is a senior-level leadership role for a dynamic, strategic designer who can establish a new design house within the company, collaborate with founders, and shape the future of event design. The ideal candidate will combine architectural, construction, environmental, and interior design expertise with strong leadership skills to manage a growing team of full-time and freelance designers.

Key Responsibilities

• Spearhead the design and creative vision for sports and entertainment projects, including large-scale events such as tournaments and music festivals.
• Build and manage a team of designers, fostering collaboration and growth.
• Deliver compelling client presentations and design pitches as a credible, client-facing leader.
• Oversee design workflows (2D/3D drafting, visualization, site data integration) and ensure timely, budget-conscious delivery.
• Collaborate with project management on vendor procurement and logistics.

Skills & Experience

• 10–15 years in a design leadership role (5–6 years for exceptional candidates).
• Expertise in event design, architecture, or interiors for large-scale events.
• Proficiency in Vectorworks preferred; AutoCAD, Revit, D5, Unreal, Lumion, or similar tools will be considered.
• Familiarity with drone-based site data, GPS survey, and digital layout workflows.
• Strong communication, storytelling, and financial management skills.
