We are seeking an experienced Material Handler to join our team in Columbus, Ohio. This critical role supports our daily logistics and ensures the efficient flow of materials throughout our facility. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for operating various types of equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery, to move, sort, and stage goods. Your duties will include loading and unloading trucks, organizing inventory in designated storage areas, and preparing materials for production or outbound shipments. Safety is our utmost priority. You must demonstrate a thorough understanding of and strict adherence to all safety regulations, including the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This physically demanding role requires stamina for prolonged standing, walking, and significant lifting. We are looking for individuals with a proven track record of reliability, excellent mechanical aptitude, and a strong commitment to maintaining a safe and organized warehouse environment. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks and containers with precision.
- Transport materials to and from designated storage locations.
- Stage items for assembly, production, or outbound logistics.
- Perform pre-operational checks on equipment and report any issues.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of warehouse aisles and storage areas.
- Strictly adhere to all safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Assist with inventory counts and discrepancy investigations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts and other material handling equipment.
- Valid forklift certification is highly desirable.
- Ability to perform lifting tasks up to 75 lbs.
- Deep understanding of warehouse safety standards and the importance of PPE.
- Strong spatial reasoning and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Experience in a busy logistics environment is advantageous.
