We are seeking a detail-oriented Receiving Clerk to join our bustling operations in Baltimore, Maryland. This position is essential for the accurate and efficient processing of all incoming goods into our facility. You will be responsible for verifying deliveries, inspecting items for damage, and accurately recording inventory into our system. A strong commitment to accuracy, organization, and safety is paramount. This role is a critical component of our overall logistics network. We ensure all team members are provided with and properly trained on the use of PPE to maintain a secure working environment.
Responsibilities:
- Receive all incoming shipments, verify packing slips against delivered goods, and note any discrepancies or damages.
- Inspect merchandise for damage or defects upon arrival.
- Accurately enter received inventory data into the warehouse management system (WMS).
- Stage received goods for put-away by other warehouse staff.
- Communicate effectively with suppliers, carriers, and internal departments regarding receiving issues.
- Maintain organized and clean receiving dock areas.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper handling and storage of incoming materials to prevent damage.
- Wear and utilize all required PPE , such as safety vests, gloves, and eye protection.
- Assist with inventory control and cycle counts as needed.
- Contribute to the efficient flow of goods within the logistics chain.
- Follow all guidelines related to the secure and safe handling of materials.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in receiving, warehouse, or inventory control is preferred.
- Proficiency in data entry and basic computer skills.
- Experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) is a plus.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including standing, walking, bending, and occasional Lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organizational and communication skills.
- Understanding of warehouse safety practices and the importance of PPE .
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of logistics and supply chain principles is beneficial.
