We are seeking a diligent and organized Shipping Clerk to join our dynamic logistics team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately preparing, packing, and shipping outgoing orders, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining inventory accuracy. This role is crucial to our supply chain operations and requires meticulous attention to detail. You will be responsible for coordinating with carriers, tracking shipments, and resolving any shipping-related issues that may arise. Responsibilities:
- Verify and inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and completeness.
- Pack items securely and appropriately for transit, ensuring products are protected.
- Operate shipping software to create labels, manifests, and shipping documents.
- Schedule and coordinate pickups with various shipping carriers (e.g., FedEx, UPS, USPS, LTL freight).
- Maintain a clean and organized shipping area, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Conduct regular inventory checks of shipping supplies and materials.
- Assist with receiving and put-away of incoming goods as needed.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external customers regarding shipping status.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety and proper handling of materials.
- Ensure compliance with all transportation regulations and requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in shipping, receiving, or a related logistics role is preferred.
- Proficiency with shipping software and basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Ability to perform moderate **lifting** (up to 50 lbs).
- Commitment to workplace **safety** and adherence to **PPE** guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and **logistics** principles.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to take on additional tasks.
