We are hiring an experienced Directional Drill Locator to support horizontal directional drilling (HDD). This is a non-union position offering steady work, competitive pay, and opportunities for advancement in the underground utility and pipeline industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate directional drilling locating equipment to track drill head location, depth, and pitch during HDD pipeline installation
  • Support underground utility construction projects
  • Communicate clearly with drill operators, foremen, and project managers to ensure bore accuracy
  • Perform daily inspections of directional drills, excavators, forklifts, water trucks, and related heavy equipment
  • Follow all OSHA construction safety regulations and company safety policies
  • Troubleshoot drilling and locating equipment using mechanical knowledge
  • Maintain bore logs, daily reports, and job documentation
  • Assist in training new employees on locating equipment and safety procedures
  • Support general job site operations as needed

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Directional Drill Locator or HDD Locator
  • Strong understanding of horizontal directional drilling, pipeline installation, and underground utilities
  • Experience working in oil & gas construction or heavy civil construction
  • Mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment including Caterpillar machinery, excavators, and forklifts
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards for construction sites
  • CDL preferred (water truck / tanker operation a plus)

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Willingness to travel to job sites and work extended hours as needed
