Land Survey Field Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a motivated Entry-Level Land Surveyor Field Assistant / Equipment Operator to support our survey crews in the field. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working outdoors and wants to build a career in land surveying. No prior surveying experience is required—we provide on-the-job training.

What You'll Do

• Assist licensed land surveyors with field surveying tasks
• Help set up and operate surveying equipment (GPS, total stations, levels)
• Drive stakes, set markers, and assist with boundary and construction layout
• Carry, load, and transport tools and equipment to job sites
• Clear brush and maintain lines of sight using hand tools
• Collect field measurements and assist with basic documentation
• Operate light equipment and company vehicles as needed
• Follow safety procedures and company policies at all times
• Work as part of a team to complete projects efficiently

What We're Looking For

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to learn and work outdoors in all weather conditions
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor
• Basic math skills and attention to detail
• Strong work ethic, punctuality, and positive attitude

Experience

• No experience required – training provided
• Construction, outdoor labor, utility, or equipment experience is a plus but not required

Work Environment

• Outdoor fieldwork in varied terrain and weather
• May involve early mornings, long days, and occasional overtime
• Work sites may include residential, commercial, rural, or undeveloped areas

Physical Requirements

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing for extended periods
• Ability to work in wooded, wet, or uneven terrain

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 30 – 50 per week
