The Corporate Accountant II plays a critical role within our US accounting team. This individual will be responsible for highly visible accounting areas and will be supported directly by the Accounting Manager. We are looking for a team player who is ready to support our next phase of growth at Samsara by working through complex areas efficiently and effectively, and exploring adoption of AI and how it can improve day-to-day responsibilities. This role will interact with various cross functional teams - excellent written and verbal communication are a must. This is a great role for someone who wants to learn quickly and become part of an excellent, high performing team.

In this role, you will:
- Perform various GL month-end close activities.
- Prepare journal entries and related account reconciliations.
- Develop relationships and work effectively with teams outside of accounting including procure-to-pay, treasury, payroll, sales compensation, order-to-cash, supply chain, among others.
- Demonstrate extreme ownership of assigned accounts which may include, among others, inventory, deferred commissions, marketable securities and investments, complex bank account arrangements, and accounts payable and accounts receivable related accounts.
- Help implement process improvements by identifying weaknesses in the close process.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting.
- 2+ years relevant accounting experience.
- Able to work with a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of operational accounting processes (accruals, account reconciliation, month end/year end close).
- Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively.
- Intermediate Excel skills.
Ideal candidate:
- CPA (or equivalent) or interest in obtaining CPA (or equivalent).
- Experience working under strict deadlines and ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Must be a fast learner, multi-tasker with a strong desire to learn and a 'can do' attitude.
- Must be able to collaborate and communicate effectively.
- Experience with NetSuite.
- Critical thinker, able to implement scalable processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and follow-through.
