Manage a limited number of complex projects at Storage Tank sites. Prepare scopes of work and bid documents for remediation. Coordinate all activities of bidding and fulfillment of bid requirements with contractual services unit. Interact with consultants to ensure completion of work under contract. Manage and evaluate project costs for effective remediation and efficient use of state funds. Direct the supervision of professional and technical staff in the statewide Remedial Unit as assigned by the Section Chief. Make work assignments, set performance standards, conduct performance evaluations, set staff priorities, provide performance feedback to staff, reward staff performance and support staff career development, stimulate productivity and provide for a creative work environment.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Performs as manager and supervisor of the statewide Remedial Unit in the Storage Tank Section. Oversees preparation of technical projects, designs, plans, estimates, calculations, inspections, testing, and collection of data for soil and groundwater investigation projects. This includes but is not limited to, program development guidance, public relations, policy development, technical oversight, geologic oversight, tracking of various program elements, dissemination of information to the public, ranking of priorities, program updates, project tracking, staff assignments, and budgeting. Assists the Section Chief in administration of the program. Responsible for assuring consistency, QA/QC, fairness, and follows all agency/bureau/section guidelines and policies for all program elements. Responsible for setting and tracking deadlines for document review or technical oversight of sites to staff as defined by the Section Chief.

Qualifications

  • Education:
  • High School, GED
  • Licensing & Certification:
  • Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • Four years of direct experience in an environmental program/project
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Four years of experience in geology
  • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
  • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail
  • Geologic work experience in the environmental field
  • Experience with soil vapor extraction and Air Sparge systems
  • General experience in soil and groundwater remediation
