Position Summary
The Host/Hostess at Diablo Country Club is the first point of contact for members and guests, setting the tone for an exceptional dining experience. This role requires a warm, welcoming demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a keen ability to manage the flow of the dining room.
Reporting Relationship: Restaurant Manager
Work Performed
- Greet members and guests with a smile and warm welcome, acknowledging them within 10 feet and offering a verbal greeting within 5 feet.
- Manage reservations, assigning tables to ensure an optimal dining room flow and balanced server workload.
- Promptly seat members, providing accurate wait times when necessary and escorting them to their tables.
- Present menus and wine lists neatly on the table before guests are seated, pulling out chairs as a courtesy.
- Answer phone calls professionally, taking messages and reservations as needed.
- Communicate effectively with the service team to ensure smooth service and member satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean and organized host station, as it serves as the first impression of the dining experience.
- Bid farewell to members as they leave, thanking them for their visit and inviting them to return.
- Assist bus persons and servers as needed to maintain a seamless dining room operation.
- Perform assigned side duties and stock station to ensure preparedness for service.
Minimum Requirements for Position:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a similar role within a high-end hospitality setting.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine passion for providing outstanding service.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
- Proficient in using reservation systems and managing table assignments.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and walk throughout the dining room.
- Comfortable lifting and moving objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to visually inspect the dining room, manage reservation lists, and read menus.
