A Customs and Border Protection Officer (CBPO) is a critical role in the Department of Homeland Security workforce, responsible for safeguarding America by protecting our borders, deterring illicit activity, and enhancing economic prosperity.
About this Job
This CBPO position requires individuals with specialized experience in law enforcement, who can make rapid judgments and decisions to apply regulations, instructions, and procedures for importing/exporting merchandise. They must also enforce laws relating to entry/residency/departure from the US.
Key Responsibilities:
- Safeguard national security by identifying potential threats through intelligence techniques and behavior analysis.
- Carry out inspections of conveyances/bags/merchandise while ensuring compliance with customs/agriculture regulations.
- Detect illicit activities & prevent smuggling using proper law enforcement methods.
The perfect candidate will have strong analytical skills,
good communication abilities,
a bachelor's degree or relevant education/experience
and be willing to undergo rigorous training at FLETC.
