Summary
As a Solutions Architect/Engineer, you design and implement secure, compliant IT solutions that meet business needs by translating requirements, assessing systems, leading implementations, and driving continuous improvement through new technologies.
The Solutions Architecture & Modernization Operations Division is responsible for the delivery of innovative workspace IT programs, services, and solutions.
We are currently filling one vacancy, but additional vacancies may be filled as needed.
Duties
Help
As a Solutions Architect/Engineer (ENTARCH) you will perform the following duties:
Designs comprehensive IT solutions that integrate multiple systems and platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and compliance with industry best practices. Develops detailed architecture diagrams, specifications, and documentation to clearly communicate solution design and facilitate implementation. Collaborate with security and compliance teams to identify and address potential risks, ensuring that all proposed solutions meet organizational security and compliance requirements. Provides technical leadership and guidance to development and infrastructure teams throughout the solution design and implementation process. Maintains a strong understanding of emerging technologies and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement. Captures and analyzes business requirements, translating them into clear and concise technical specifications. Assesses existing systems, platforms, and architectures to identify areas for improvement or replacement. Researches, evaluates, and recommends IT solutions, considering functionality, scalability, cost, security, and integration capabilities. Develops and presents recommendations to leadership and stakeholders, articulating the benefits and risks of various solutions and identifying the best-fit option based on business needs and technical feasibility. Conducts proof-of-concept (POC) evaluations to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed solutions. Works closely with development, infrastructure, security and other technical teams to implement and integrate solutions, providing technical guidance and support to ensure successful execution. Oversees configuration, testing, and deployment of solutions, ensuring adherence to established standards and best practices. Troubleshoots technical issues that arise during implementation and integration, identifying root causes and implementing effective solutions. Communicates effectively with business users, IT staff, and vendors, presenting complex technical concepts in a clear and understandable manner. Coordinates with project managers to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. Participates in cross-functional teams to address complex business challenges and develop innovative solutions. Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation of solutions, architectures, and configurations, ensuring accuracy and completeness. Develops training materials and job aids for IT staff and end-users to facilitate effective use and maintenance of implemented solutions. Ensures documentations is readily accessible and up-to-date, providing a valuable resource for IT staff and stakeholders. Stays up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends, proactively identifying opportunities to improve existing systems and processes. Contributes to the development of IT standards and best practices, promoting consistency and efficiency across the organization. Monitors system performance, identifying areas for optimization and recommending improvements to enhance security, efficiency, and reliability. Participates in post-implementation reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future solution design and implementation processes. Requirements

The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees. If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule C or Non-Career SES employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the HR Office. Failure to disclose this information could result in disciplinary action including removal from Federal Service. Serve a one year probationary period, if required. Undergo and pass a background investigation (Tier 2 investigation level). Have your identity and work status eligibility verified if you are not a GSA employee. The GS-14 salary range starts at $127,829 per year depending on the locality of the position.
If you are a new federal employee, your starting salary will likely be set at the Step 1 of the grade for which you are selected.
To qualify, you must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level or higher in the Federal service
and
have IT-related experience demonstrating EACH of the four competencies below:

This skill is generally demonstrated by assignments where the applicant identifies and accommodates technology and resource constraints. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE:
In addition to the Basic Requirements listed above, you must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 in the Federal service.
Specialized experience
is experience defined as experience designing and implementing complex IT solutions that integrate multiple systems or platforms, including developing architecture diagrams, technical specifications, and documentation. This experience must also include analyzing business or functional requirements; evaluating existing systems or architectures to identify improvements; and researching or recommending IT solutions based on functionality, scalability, security, cost, or integration needs. Such experience may be obtained in government, industry, or other related fields.
