Key Responsibilities
Data Governance Strategy & Frameworks
- Define and operationalize enterprise-wide
Data Governance, Data Quality, and Metadata Management frameworks
aligned with business and data strategy. - Lead the activation and ongoing operation of the
Data Governance Leadership Council (DGLC)
and
Data Governance Working Group (DGWG)
, with an initial focus on high-priority business domains. - Establish and enforce data policies and standards related to
data access, classification, retention, and archival
, ensuring compliance with privacy and PI data regulations. - Define roles and responsibilities across a
federated, asset-centric data organization
(e.g., Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Custodians).
Data Quality, Trust & Compliance
- Oversee the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive
Data Quality (DQ) rulebook
for Critical Data Elements (CDEs) across Silver and Gold data layers. - Direct the implementation of
DQ scoring mechanisms, dashboards, and automated monitoring
. - Define and integrate
data incident management processes
with the metadata catalog (Acryl) to track, triage, and resolve data trust issues. - Implement and manage audits to monitor and report on
PI data usage
across reporting and analytics platforms to ensure continuous compliance.
Metadata, Discovery & Data Literacy
- Drive identification of
Critical Data Elements (CDEs)
and lead the creation, validation, and governance of the
Business Glossary
in partnership with Subdomain Data Owners. - Oversee enhancements to technical metadata in the
data catalog (Acryl/DataHub)
, including the integration of
data lineage tools
(e.g., GLA) to improve discoverability and reuse. - Develop and launch
data literacy, enablement, and change management programs
to increase adoption of governance standards and clarify data ownership across the organization.
Leadership & Change Management
- Manage and mentor a growing
Data Governance team
, ensuring delivery of high-priority initiatives. - Translate abstract business objectives (e.g., reducing data trust issues by 30–50%) into
measurable, actionable governance initiatives
. - Partner with executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment, adoption, and accountability.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- 8+ years of experience in data management, with
3+ years leading and implementing enterprise Data Governance programs
. - 2–5 years of people leadership experience.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong understanding of
modern data platforms
(e.g., Snowflake, dbt) and how to embed governance and quality checks into data pipelines. - Hands-on experience with
metadata management and data catalog tools
such as Acryl/DataHub, including lineage, glossary, and metadata quality monitoring. - Proven expertise in
data privacy, PI data management, and regulatory compliance
. - Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging executive leadership and governance councils.
- Demonstrated success in
organizational change management
, driving adoption across technical and non-technical teams. - Strong project management skills with the ability to manage
complex, high-priority initiatives
.
Preferred
- Experience working within a
federated or domain-oriented data organization
. - Familiarity with automated DQ tooling and observability frameworks.
