Environmental Designer – Engineer in Training – Water/ Wastewater Process

Thomas & Hutton has an opening for a motivated and driven Environmental Designer to join our Water/Wastewater Department in Charlotte, NC. This position focuses primarily on wastewater process design .

Candidate should be able to create engineering drawings in AutoCAD/Civil 3D, prepare technical specifications, design calculations, and process flow diagrams. Basic understanding of wastewater treatment principles required. Experience in design & permitting wastewater pump station projects and client/contractor relationship experience a plus.

Minimum Requirements:
Experience: 2+ years of strong AutoCAD based design skills. Experience in the design of pump stations, and municipal water & wastewater treatment plants preferred.

Education/Certifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Biosystems, Chemical Engineering or related field.

Master's degree preferred but not required.

EIT Certification or ability to become EIT certified within 6 months required.

Skills:
AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Excel software applications. BioWin experience is preferred but not required.

Strong ability to communicate both verbally and in writing

The ability to work a regular schedule of 730AM - 530PM Mon-Thurs and 730AM - 1130AM Fri, occasional evening and weekend work. This position is fully on-site. It is not a remote or hybrid position.

Proven ability to multi task, appropriately prioritize workflow and complete tasks

Highly client service oriented, self-starter, and team player

Ability to solve problems

Strong desire to learn

Excellent time management skills
