A private household composed of 2 adults is seeking an experienced and adaptable Private Chef for a seasonal position from May to October on a remote island in British Columbia . Position Overview
The Private Chef will be responsible for planning, provisioning and preparing high-quality meals tailored to the household's preferences, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The position requires autonomy, professionalism, and a strong understanding of private service standards. The chef will manage all culinary aspects while ensuring discretion and flexibility in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Menu planning and preparation of daily meals (lunch, dinner, snacks, and juices as required).
- Table setup and plated table service.
- Adapting menus to dietary preferences and restrictions.
- Sourcing, ordering, and managing food supplies suitable for a remote location.
- Household garden coordination / planning / communication with gardeners.
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and well-managed kitchen, both at the main residence as well as the chef's kitchen off-site.
- Preparing meals for occasional guests and small gatherings.
- Ensuring proper food storage, hygiene, and safety standards at all times.
- Proven experience as a private chef, yacht chef, or senior chef in a high-end hospitality setting.
- Experience with whole-food, seasonal, and nutrient-forward cooking.
- Ability to work with Seasonal on-site gardens and ingredients.
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Flexible, discreet, and service-oriented.
- Able to manage provisioning and logistics in advance.
- Beyond technical skill, seeking someone who brings maturity, presence, and discernment to their work.
- Valid driver's licence.
Other Desired Experience
- Functional nutrition, anti-inflammatory cooking, or wellness-forward culinary training.
- Experience with fermentation, broths, tonics, or plant-forward cuisine.
- Familiarity with regenerative or local sourcing.
Schedule & Contract
- Seasonal contract: Estimatd May to October 2026.
- Schedule to be discussed, with flexibility required based on household needs.
Compensation & Accommodation
- Competitive compensation, commensurate with experience.
- Separate, independent accommodation provided on the island.
- Vehicle provided for work related duties, or alternatively the candidate may use their own vehicle.
