POSITION: Ophthalmic Technician

DEPARTMENT: Tech Dept

REPORTS TO: Ophthalmic Supervisor

LOCATION: On Site 764 Second St, Manchester NH, 03102

TRAVEL REQUIRED: Potential coverage in satellite location, Londonderry, NH.

Job Summary: This individual is responsible for clinical support in the office. This includes rooming patients, conducting pre-visit testing and providing support to the provider.

Education and Experience:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.

  2. Experience in a health care setting required .

  3. Experience in ophthalmology preferred.

  4. Experience in Applanation Tonometry, Refractometry, Lensometry, Ocular and Medical history documentation and a variety of Ophthalmic diagnostic testing preferred.

Essential Skills and Abilities:

  1. Exceptional customer service skills.

  2. Strong attention to detail.

  3. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.

  4. Ability to interact and communicate with providers and staff

  5. participate as a team member with individuals inside and outside the department.

  6. Ability to stand for long periods of time.

  7. Ability to lift and carry up to 25 LBS.

Ophthalmic Assistant RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Escort patients from waiting room to exam rooms

  2. Conducts necessary testing to include:

  3. Pachymetry

  4. Retinal/Optic nerve OCT imaging

  5. Fundus Photos

  6. Automated Periphery

  7. Color and Stereo Testing, others as directed

  8. Administers eye drops for tonometry, dilation and prepares patient for laser procedures

  9. Documents in electronic medical records

  10. Obtains appropriate consent forms

  11. Conducts patient phone calls to review medical concerns

  12. Schedules patient appointments

  13. Processes medication refills as directed by the provider

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
