Behavioral Health Billing Manager

Company Overview:

We are a consulting firm specializing in licensing, certification, DMC, and TJC compliance for behavioral health providers. Due to high demand from our clients, we are launching a dedicated billing service to support substance abuse treatment providers with accurate, compliant, and efficient revenue cycle management.

Job Title: Behavioral Health Billing Manager (Substance Abuse Focus)

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health Billing Manager will manage end-to-end billing operations for substance use disorder (SUD) and behavioral health services. This role requires expertise in payer requirements, compliance standards, and coding for addiction treatment programs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process and submit claims for substance abuse and behavioral health services.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain prior authorizations.
• Ensure compliance with DMC, TJC, and state regulations for billing and documentation.
• Monitor claim status, manage denials, and handle appeals promptly.
• Maintain accurate records of payments, adjustments, and outstanding balances.
• Collaborate with providers and internal teams to resolve billing issues.
• Stay updated on payer policies, coding changes, and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

• Experience: Minimum 3 years in behavioral health or substance abuse billing.
• Knowledge: Familiarity with CPT/HCPCS codes for addiction treatment, ASAM levels of care, and behavioral health modifiers.
• Compliance: Understanding of Medicaid/DMC, Medicare, and commercial insurance requirements.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in EHR and billing platforms (e.g., KipuRMS, Kareo, TheraNest, AdvancedMD.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple accounts.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Certification in Medical Billing or Coding (e.g., CPC, CPB).
• Experience with multi-state billing compliance.
• Knowledge of revenue cycle management best practices for behavioral health.
