Kitchen Supervisor I

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily kitchen operations and meal preparation for inmates and staff.
• Assign, train, and oversee all kitchen workers, ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation

rules.

• Monitor food inventory, storage, and supply orders to minimize waste and ensure adequate

stock.

• Maintain accurate records of food production, temperatures, cleaning schedules, and inmate

labor logs.

• Enforce security protocols to prevent misuse of kitchen tools, food supplies, and ensure

controlled movement.

• Conduct regular inspections for cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and compliance with

health codes.

• Collaborate with facility staff to ensure dietary requirements, including religious or medical

needs, are met.

• Provide feedback and discipline in accordance with facility rules and rehabilitative guidelines.

Required Knowledge Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Working knowledge of bookkeeping practices and business English with good grammatical and

spelling, skills, and ability to develop correspondence, reports and operational directives.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required; culinary or food service certification preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of food service or kitchen supervisory experience; correctional setting

experience a plus.

• HAACP certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of food safety standards (e.g., ServSafe Certification).
• Ability to lead and instruct individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and conflict resolution skills.
• Must pass a background check and meet all facility security clearance requirements.
