Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our veterinary team. The ideal candidate will support veterinarians and veterinary technicians in providing high-quality animal care, ensuring smooth clinic operations, and maintaining a safe and clean environment. Responsibilities

  • Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both animals and staff
  • Administer medications and vaccines accurately following veterinary instructions
  • Handle animals of various species, including dogs, cats, and equines, demonstrating proper animal handling techniques
  • Support kennel duties such as cleaning, feeding, and monitoring animals' behavior and health status
  • Prepare animals for surgery or diagnostic procedures, including sedation or anesthesia as directed
  • Maintain cleanliness of treatment areas, surgical suites, and kennels using aseptic techniques
  • Assist with laboratory procedures such as sample collection, processing, and basic testing
  • Support front desk activities including client communication, appointment scheduling, and record keeping
  • Educate pet owners on pet care, medication administration, and post-treatment instructions
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal physiology, anatomy, and medical procedures to assist effectively

Experience

  • Previous kennel experience or animal husbandry background preferred
  • Veterinary technician or assistant experience highly desirable
  • Experience with animal restraint, medication administration, and laboratory procedures is advantageous
  • Familiarity with veterinary critical care practices and pet care protocols is a plus
  • Knowledge of equine handling or large animal care is beneficial but not required
  • Prior veterinary clinic experience demonstrating strong animal handling skills and understanding of veterinary terminology is preferred

This position requires a compassionate attitude towards animals and clients, strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Candidates should be committed to ongoing learning in veterinary medicine to provide the best possible care for our patients.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $ $19.00 per hour
