Overview

Our client, a leading supplier of transport packaging solutions specializing in the steel and aluminum market, is looking for a skilled programmer with expertise in ABB Robotics, Siemens PLC, and Allen Bradley PLCs. The ideal candidate should be a hands-on programmer, passionate about optimizing industrial systems and troubleshooting issues in real-time. This role requires a combination of remote work and travel across North America, primarily Ohio, and offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge technology within a growing company.

Key Responsibilities:

Programming and Troubleshooting:

  • Program ABB Robots using RAPID language.
  • Write and optimize logic using Allen Bradley and Siemens software.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with industrial automation systems, including ABB Robotics, Siemens PLCs, and Allen Bradley PLCs, both remotely and onsite.
  • Write safe and proven code for system optimization.

System Integration:

  • Collaborate with customers to integrate systems with their PLCs.
  • Ensure proper safety protocols are followed, especially when using safety controllers from Allen Bradley and Siemens.

Onsite and Remote Support:

  • Provide remote diagnostics and support for troubleshooting and software updates.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison between the customer and engineering team during onsite system installations, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
  • Travel up to 50% of the time for onsite support, installations, and system upgrades across North America.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work with internal engineers, technicians, and project managers to improve system performance.
  • Share technical expertise with team members and customers while maintaining exceptional communication skills.
  • Additional Duties:
  • Document technical solutions and maintain detailed records for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure safety and compliance in all activities.

Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Fluent in English.
  • 1-2 years of experience in industrial PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Previous ABB Robot programming and troubleshooting experience.
  • Ability to travel 50% of the time.
  • Hands-on experience in programming, with some mechanical background.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to write ladder logic and read schematics.
  • Knowledge of Safety LOTO and safety protocols.
  • Experience with Level 2/3 communication knowledge and SafeMove Pro is a plus.
  • Experience in System Integration with customer PLC systems is a plus.
  • Communicate effectively with customer personnel to gather feedback, explain technical details, and ensure satisfaction with automation solutions.
  • Willingness to relocate if necessary.

Work Environment:

Location: Remote 50% + Travel 50% onsite North America
