Summary

The Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate) provides specialized instruction and support to students with mild to moderate disabilities in alignment with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The position requires close collaboration with general education teachers, related service providers, administrators, and families to support student access to the curriculum and promote academic, social, and behavioral growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and oversee Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) aligned with state standards and individual student needs
  • Deliver direct instruction in academic, behavioral, social, and functional skills using evidence-based instructional strategies
  • Modify and adapt curriculum, instructional materials, and assessments to meet the needs of students with mild/moderate disabilities
  • Work collaboratively with general education teachers to support inclusive practices and co-teaching models
  • Communicate effectively and consistently with parents/guardians regarding student progress and concerns
  • Participate in IEP meetings, student support team meetings, and ongoing professional development
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district special education laws and regulations

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Special Education or a related field
  • Valid state teaching certification or credential in Special Education – Mild/Moderate (or equivalent)
  • Working knowledge of IDEA, IEP development, and special education compliance requirements
  • Experience or training in differentiated instruction and evidence-based interventions
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Special Education
  • Experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities in inclusive and/or resource settings
  • Familiarity with assistive technology, accommodations, and instructional supports

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $ $60.00 per hour
