Position Summary

This employee will oversee the NativeCare cultivation processes. The Cultivation Manager ensures a cooperative and productive work environment, compliance with SOP's and regulations, plant health and wellness, and successful harvests in a rapidly expanding and changing facility. The Cultivation Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of grow staff and the day-to-day tasks associated with compliance, weekly harvests, canopy management, integrated pest management and daily work flow. This position is a valuable asset to our growth plans in the Minnesota Cannabis market. The Cultivation Manager reports to the NativeCare Director of Cultivation Operations. This is a full-time position with benefits located in Redby, MN. Pay DOQ.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Assists the company in leading and overseeing assigned tasks including fertigation, automation, propagation, vegetation, flowering, harvest and all other cultivation work.
  • Leads team though daily tasks ensuring quality control and compliance.
  • Leads the team in efficiently completing tasks according to SOPs and regulations. Provides feedback and coaching to employees when necessary.
  • Proficient and fluent in all job duties required of all cultivation technicians and leads
  • Assists with the updating and training staff on the company's SOPs as it related to the Cultivation and Harvest processes
  • Ability to ensure team members are trained and can perform all job duties
  • Having excellent time management skills with ability to multi-task proactively and in response to issues as they arise. Proven methods to manage self and effectively collaborate with others.
  • Manage optimal asset utilization and establish staffing requirements to meet schedules
  • Assist in all plant care from clone to harvest in an indoor cultivation facility.

· Ensure the growth requirements of plants are consistently met (lighting, environment, nutrients, etc).

· Diagnose and resolve plant health and IPM management functions.

  • Labor tasks not limited to cloning, pruning, defoliating, transplanting, moving plants, harvesting, and drying.
  • Cleaning, and maintaining a clean work space.
  • Other duties as needed (IPM, room checks, meetings, breaks, post-harvest, hand watering).
  • Operating and navigating cultivation automation software and systems – Aroya, Growlink fertigation controls, Rhythm Irrigation Systems, Advanced Treatment Ozone skid, reverse osmosis skid.
  • The ability to keep records and follow documentation practices.
  • The ability to set quarterly goals and KPIs for direct reports, motivate and hold staff accountable to those metrics

· Maintain a working knowledge of state and local cultivation regulations and updates.

· Manage inventory and plan out forecasts on supply needs, harvest schedule and troubleshoot set-backs.

· Ensure proper tracking of all plant material and waste.

  • Coordinate and oversee all cultivation and harvest activities and ensure quality is up to company standards
  • Lead corrective actions should issues arise
  • Perform any and all tasks assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Degree in Horticulture, Agronomy or related field preferred
  • Experience with growing in a multiple tier facility.
  • 3 years of experience in regulated cannabis cultivation.
  • Demonstrated managerial experience in a manufacturing/cultivation environment
  • Excellent planning, organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of plant cultivation, including nutrient requirements, coco media, light requirements, temperature control, and air flow
  • Knowledge of plant diseases, insects, and fungi - as well as safe treatment options.
  • Experience working in Tribal Communities is desired.
  • Works well in a team environment and can take direction from others.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must meet licensing requirements, and pass background check for suitability.
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and METRC
  • Ability to work in a highly regulated environment

Physical Demands and Work Environment

· Must be able to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 50 lbs to a minimum height of 5 feet and able to push, pull, move, and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet, with or without mechanical assistance.

  • Must be able to work seated/standing as appropriate at workstations for extended periods of time, maintain body equilibrium while climbing ladders, stairways, stopping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching, and use hands/fingers to hold, grasp, turn, pick, pinch frequently/constantly to complete tasks.
  • Able to wear PPE as appropriate (eye, face, hand, arm, head, foot, body, fall protection), and able to be exposed to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions while wearing PPE.
  • Ability to use a ladder (up to 12 ft. extension) and general hardware tools needed for common repairs
  • Exposure to allergens and pesticides in the grow facility.
  • Work environments that include exposure to, but not limited to, chemicals, fumes, dust, odors, extreme heat temperatures, heights, indoor AC, no AC, motion, noise, protective gear, vibrations, and water.
