About the Role:

The Nursing Assistant - Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in providing compassionate and direct patient care within healthcare settings across the United States. This position focuses on supporting licensed nursing staff by triaging patients and assisting with performing EKG's. The CNA will be responsible for taking vital signs, reconciling medications, reviewing allergies along with social history and maintaining accurate records of care provided. Through effective communication and teamwork, the CNA contributes to a positive patient experience and supports the overall healthcare delivery process. This role requires dedication, empathy, and a strong commitment to upholding healthcare standards and protocols.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification recognized in the state of employment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a state-approved nursing assistant training program.
  • Basic understanding of medical terminology and patient care principles.
  • Ability to perform manual blood pressures

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working as a CNA or in a similar patient care role.
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure as directed by nursing staff.
  • Perform EKG's as directed by nursing staff and ordering provider.
  • Assist the nursing team with patient clinical messages.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment by following infection control and safety procedures.
  • Document care provided accurately and timely in patient records in compliance with facility policies.

Skills:

The required skills such as patient care techniques, vital sign monitoring, and infection control are applied daily to ensure patients receive safe and effective care. Communication skills are essential for interacting with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide updates and emotional support. Time management and organizational skills help the CNA prioritize tasks and maintain accurate documentation under varying workloads. Preferred skills like familiarity with electronic health records enhance efficiency in recording patient information and coordinating care. Additionally, Basic Life Support prepare the CNA to respond promptly to emergencies, ensuring patient safety at all times.
