Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of patient care, medical procedures, and administrative support within diverse clinical settings. This role offers the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, providing vital support across outpatient and inpatient services, including emergency medicine, hospital medicine, dermatology, geriatrics, and surgical specialties. The Certified Medical Assistant will play an essential role in ensuring high-quality patient care and efficient clinic operations.

Duties

  • Assist with patient intake processes, including collecting medical histories and documenting vital signs using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures in outpatient, inpatient, or emergency settings such as Level I and Level II trauma centers
  • Administer medications and injections following proper protocols and physician orders
  • Perform basic life support (BLS) and assist with emergency procedures as needed in urgent care or hospital environments
  • Support physicians during procedures, including X-ray imaging, surgical assistance in the OR, or PICU settings
  • Conduct ICD coding for diagnoses and treatments to ensure accurate documentation for billing and medical records
  • Assist with patient education on treatment plans, medication administration, and post-procedure care
  • Maintain cleanliness and sterilization of medical equipment and treatment areas
  • Support administrative functions such as scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams

Qualifications

  • Certified Medical Assistant credential from an accredited program
  • Prior experience in hospital medicine, outpatient clinics, or emergency medicine environments preferred
  • Knowledge of dermatology, internal medicine, geriatrics, medical-surgical procedures, and trauma center protocols (Level I & II) highly desirable
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and medication administration
  • Experience working in high-acuity settings such as ICU or PICU is advantageous
  • Basic life support (BLS) certification required; additional certifications in advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) or trauma care are a plus
  • Strong patient service skills with compassionate communication abilities
  • Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments including urgent care centers or hospital units
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation and clinical tasks
