Veterinary Assistant

Watford City Veterinary Center of Watford City, ND is hiring for an additional full-time Veterinary Assistant and patient care rock star

The Veterinary Assistant role is a vital position that helps serve our Veterinarians and Technicians with the delivery of exceptional veterinary medical care. Some of the key duties and responsibilitiesof this position include:

· Conducting initial triage of patients, working with clients on taking health histories, assessing vital signs, notating concerns and assisting with admission into the hospital

· Working at the direction/order of the attending Veterinarian(s), providing assistance with basic medical care including taking/processing of lab samples for diagnostics, assisting with taking radiographs and other diagnostic imaging techniques, applying bandaging, administering first aid, fluid therapy and medications as prescribed.

· Perform basic venipuncture procedures, including blood draws (jugular), and intravenous catheterization placement

· Communicating with clients about patient needs, providing patient updates, coordinating schedules with the Veterinarians and clients for consultation and being an advocate for patient care throughout the process

· Presenting information about services and associated fees to clients competently and efficiently

· Processing invoices, billing, and taking payments/handling of cash/checks/credit card and insurance payments

· Looking out for client and patient needs, providing exceptional service experience with forward thinking and solutions to better serve our customers and their beloved pets

· Administration/clerical duties, notating/updating of medical records, printing, copying, scanning and attaching records with EMRs (electronic medical record system) accurately and timely

· Coordinating with the medical team to ensure timely and efficient delivery of patient and client care.

Professional skills and/or experience needed for this position:

· General knowledge of animal husbandry/medical care

· Previous veterinary assistant experience is helpful but not required

· Strong sense of urgency, commitment to details/accuracy and proven multi-tasking skills (required)

· Ability to hear/answer/respond clearly, communicating effectively via in-person, phone, email and other digital media exchanges (required)

· Type/key 40+ wpm (required)

· Use of computers, technology processes and programs, including Excel, Word and other Apps utilized throughout the business such as HomeBase, Slack, credit card processing terminals, etc.

· Knowledge of or ability to learn/understand medical terminology (required)

· Ability to lift or move up to 40lbs, stand, stoop or kneel off/on throughout the work-day (required)

· Customer Service experience 1+yrs (required)
