Duties

  • Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 (International Classification of Diseases, 10th Revision), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) to ensure precise coding for billing purposes.
  • Prepare and submit claims for reimbursement.
  • Verify insurance coverage, follow up on unpaid claims, and perform medical collections when necessary to facilitate prompt payments.
  • Maintain detailed and organized medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality standards.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify documentation discrepancies and improve coding accuracy.
  • Review and provide medical records request invoices, follow up, and records.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology essential for accurate coding and billing.
  • Proficiency in ICD-10, CPT coding systems, and DRG classifications.
  • Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for documentation review and claim submission.
  • Knowledge of medical billing processes, including claim preparation, submission, follow-up, and collections.
  • Familiarity with medical records management and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical documentation accurately.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare providers and insurance representatives.
