Sanitation Crew Member Job Description

The Sanitation Crew works collaboratively to clean and then sanitize manufacturing equipment and spaces in a factory/warehouse setting. Hand tools and air powered equipment are regularly utilized. In-house safety training is provided. Crew members work under the direction of the Sanitation Lead and Supervisor.

Ability to communicate effectively in English to follow safety instructions, complete required documentation, and interact with supervisors and team members as needed for job duties

Monday-Friday 5pm-1:30AM & weekends as needed

Primary Duties

1. Use tools & equipment safely and efficiently. (Hoses, sprayers, shovels, scrubbers, basic hand tools)

2. Wear proper Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) as required for each task. PPE is provided by Oregon Fruit Company.

3. Remove accumulated build-up of product on equipment and floors using the correct color-coded tools and cleaning agents as trained.

4. Wash conveyor belts, pails, tubs, containers, walls, floors, etc.

5. Clean and sanitize other plant facilities (warehouse space, cooler, forklifts, water plant, walkways, etc.) as needed.

6. Use proper Lock-out Tag-out procedures wherever applicable.

7. Other duties related to Sanitation and Food Safety as needed.

Physical Requirements

1. Shall not pose a threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.

2. Must be able to pick up, lift, move and stack objects weighing approximately 50 lbs.

3. Work safely and for prolonged periods around hot water and steam equipment.

4. Work with a variety of cleaning agents while wearing PPE.

5. Pull/carry hoses, direct streams of hot water and cleaning agents for long periods of time.

6. Work safely on wet or slippery floors, mezzanines, and stairs in the immediate vicinity of operating equipment.

7. Be able to work underneath/between equipment and metal framing-occasional cramped conditions.
