Senior Network Engineer ! At Leidos, we pride ourselves on advancing mission-critical IT services for the Department of Defense (DOD). Primary Responsibilities: Develop and implement secure network solutions that unify connectivity services across our enterprise.
Collaborate with stakeholders and technical specialists to assess legacy systems and craft a forward-thinking design and architecture based on approved patterns.
Create secure wide-area connectivity designs that incorporate underlay, overlay, and COI transport solutions, optimizing for performance and security.
Design secure access solutions using wired and wireless technologies, integrating relevant standards and creating comprehensive implementation plans.
Incorporate capacity planning into network designs, ensuring scalability and performance meet our high standards.
Identify and analyze network optimization strategies to enhance capacity and performance.
Map out existing service paths and develop strategies for transitioning to a modern enterprise service model, balancing security and maintainability.
Contribute to the development of comprehensive IP addressing schemes for both IPv4 and IPv6 environments.
Collaborate with information assurance teams to ensure adherence to DOD standards, assisting in the production of accreditation artifacts.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
An active Secret security clearance is mandatory, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance required (U.S. citizenship is necessary). Basic Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree coupled with 4+ years of relevant experience. Equivalent education or training will be accepted in lieu of a degree.
A valid DoD Secret clearance.
Network certification equivalent to CCNA (other comparable vendor certifications may be accepted upon review).
Active DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+) or an equivalent prior to starting.
Proficient in documenting network designs using tools like Visio, PowerPoint, or similar software.
Skilled in technical troubleshooting and issue resolution.
Experience conducting site surveys and analyzing data.
Practical experience in executing migration plans for circuits, network traffic, and services.
Extensive background in upgrading and lifecycle refreshing of network devices.
Thorough understanding of I/T infrastructure networking including LAN, WAN, IP protocols, and firewall management.
Experience with multiple vendor technologies such as Cisco, Juniper, F5, and Fortinet.
Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing large-scale network infrastructure.
Strong collaboration skills for troubleshooting complex network systems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft SOPs and technical documentation.
Capability to effectively communicate with executive leadership on significant organizational matters.
Ability to present designs and proposals to technical leadership for approval.
Preferred Qualifications: CCNP certification or an equivalent professional qualification.
Experience with enterprise network management tools like SolarWinds or Cisco DNA.
Familiarity with VTC solutions design and implementation.
Hands-on experience with SD-WAN technology.
Expertise in complex enterprise network design and improvement.
Comprehensive knowledge of DoD security requirements for network infrastructure.
Experience implementing STIG for network infrastructure.
