The Role

The General Labourer plays a key role in supporting production across Kings Wood Products Inc.'s operations. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will assist in the cutting, building, and custom packaging processes that ensure high-quality products are delivered safely, accurately, and on time.

This position is for an existing vacancy.

Depending on business needs, your interests, and your qualifications, you may work in one or more of the following areas:

  • Cutting Shop – cutting and shaping lumber using a variety of machinery

  • Building Shop – assembling pallets and skids by hand or using pallet-making equipment

  • Custom Shop – assisting with the construction of crates and custom export packaging, including occasional on-site packing projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare lumber by verifying correct species, dimensions, and quality according to work orders

  • Load and feed boards into production machinery safely and efficiently

  • Assist with stacking, bundling, and preparing finished products for shipment

  • Assembling pallets and skids by hand or using pallet-making equipment

  • Assisting with the construction of crates

  • Operate tools and machinery safely, following all operational and safety procedures

  • Adjust machines as required for cutting depth, feed rate, and material specifications

  • Perform general housekeeping and maintain clean, organized work areas

  • Handle, move, and transport materials throughout the facility (up to 20 kg as required)

  • Report equipment issues or unsafe conditions to supervisors

  • Follow instructions and support team members as needed

  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Perform overtime when required, in accordance with legislative requirements

  • Complete other duties as assigned

Health & Safety

  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

  • Comply with company safety policies, procedures, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), including Section 28 – Duties of Workers

  • Actively contribute to a strong safety-first culture where people matter most

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • 3–6 months of general labour or manufacturing experience preferred (not required)

  • Experience with nail guns, impact drivers, saws, or similar tools is an asset

  • Ability to safely operate or learn to operate machinery

  • Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions

  • Good verbal communication skills

  • Strong work ethic, initiative, and willingness to learn

  • Team-oriented with a positive attitude

  • Physically capable of standing, lifting, and moving materials throughout the workday

Work Schedule

This role may be assigned to either day shift or afternoon shift, based on operational needs.

  • Day Shift
    Monday to Thursday: 6:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
    Friday: 6:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.

OR

  • Afternoon Shift
    Monday to Thursday: 4:00 p.m. – 2:30 a.m.
