Our Virginia Beach, Virginia distribution center is seeking a skilled Shipping Clerk to manage the outflow of goods. As a Shipping Clerk, you will be instrumental in ensuring that all orders are accurately prepared, documented, and dispatched to our valued customers. Your responsibilities will include verifying order details, selecting proper packaging, applying labels, and coordinating with transportation providers. This role demands exceptional organizational abilities, meticulous attention to detail, and a steadfast commitment to safety within our logistics operations. You will play a key part in maintaining our reputation for timely and accurate deliveries.
Responsibilities:
- Process and verify all outgoing shipments against order documentation.
- Select appropriate packaging materials to ensure product integrity during transit.
- Package items securely and efficiently, meeting all shipping requirements.
- Create and affix shipping labels, manifests, and other necessary paperwork.
- Schedule and coordinate pickups with various shipping carriers.
- Inspect outgoing shipments for accuracy and quality before dispatch.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe shipping dock area.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including the use of PPE.
- Communicate effectively with internal departments and external carriers.
- Contribute to the smooth operation of our overall logistics network.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Shipping Clerk or in a similar warehouse/logistics role.
- Strong understanding of shipping processes and documentation.
- Proficiency with shipping software and computer systems.
- Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and possess a strong sense of responsibility.
- Willingness to follow all safety guidelines and wear required PPE.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
