Job Title: Peer Recovery Support (PRSS) Specialist Mobile Unit

Summary/objective: The PRSS will provide Outreach services to those individuals being released from incarceration and Homeless and work closely with the PRSS in Jails Program at Recovery Point West Virginia (RPWV). This position will help guide the individuals to peer recovery support services and M.A.T Continuation also to help them find long term treatment if desired for individuals impacted by substance use disorder (SUD), particularly those re-entering the community from incarceration as well as the homeless population via telehealth and other resources.

Essential functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

  • Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of PRSS programs for individuals re-entering from incarceration and other high-risk populations.
  • Ensure timely peer-led interventions during the critical post-release period when overdose risk is highest.

· Documenting of all sessions, and inputting data into multiple information systems

  • Coordinate services that address barriers such as poverty, unemployment, limited education, housing insecurity, transportation, and lack of internet access.
  • Develop culturally responsive and trauma-informed programming tailored to the needs of rural and justice-involved populations.

· Must be able to Safeley drive the Mobile unit to and from the set-up location.

  • Provide training in evidence-based practices, harm reduction, stigma reduction, and recovery-oriented systems of care when Narcan is distributed .
  • Keep inventory of all harm reduction supplies and track all kits of Narcan that are distributed
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with community-based organizations, treatment providers, judicial systems, and healthcare partners.
  • Advocate for equitable access to recovery services and reduction of stigma and discrimination against justice-involved individuals with SUD.
  • Collaborate with families and community stakeholders to strengthen recovery networks and reduce multi-generational substance use.
  • Collect, analyze, and report data to evaluate program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with grant requirements, organizational policies, and state/federal regulations.
  • Use evidence-based practices and research findings to inform program development and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Qualifications: Must have High School Diploma or GED; bachelor's degree preferred. A minimum of 2 years working in the recovery field is required, and working towards becoming a Certified PRSS.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, ability to build partnerships and collaborate across diverse stakeholders, effective written and verbal communication skills.

Physical Demands: While performing duties of this job, employee may periodically bend, stoop or crouch; and frequently communicates with others. While performing the duties of this job, the employee routinely is required to sit; walk; talk and hear; use hands to handle, and feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, twist, reach, and stretch. May occasionally be required to lift up to 20 lbs. Travel is required.
