South Dakota State University (SDSU), University Housing and Residential Life is looking for a dedicated professional to provide oversight and leadership for interconnected systems as a Housing Operations and Systems Manager within University Housing and Residential Life. The position will serve as the master system administrator for housing platforms as well as provide strategic oversight for housing operations logistics which directly impact the student experience and campus safety.

Housing and Residential Life provides an exemplary on campus living experience for over 4,500 South Dakota State University students and 3,200 guests. This is achieved through community building, engagement, premiere facilities, and creating a positive relationship with our residents and guests.

This position is internal only, open to full-time permanent employees of SDSU and located in Brookings, SD.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the integrity, security, and functionality of Housing and Residential Life's operational and data systems.
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of housing, occupancy, and financial data across enterprise platforms, StarRez and Banner, transforming information into actionable insights that guide departmental decision-making.
  • Manage housing operation processes to include opening and closing logistics, key control, and access management while maintaining compliance with institutional, state, and federal standards.
  • Serve as a master enterprise system administrator, this role configures applications, automates workflows, and collaborates with IT and campus partners to enhance efficiency and data transparency.
  • Supervise professional and student staff, fostering a culture of accountability, service excellence, and continuous improvement across all housing operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge of:

  • StarRez Experience – Including web and portal work
  • SQL or StarQL knowledge and experience
  • Technological acumen
  • Student housing/customer service

Skill & Ability to:

  • Ability to work with large data projects
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to think strategically about operational processes and the experience of all stakeholders
