Chatfield Eye Care – Optometric Assistant

About Us
Chatfield Eye Care is a high-quality optometry practice located in Ken Caryl (SW Littleton, CO). We provide comprehensive eye care including routine exams, all contact lens fittings, dry eye management, ocular disease care, and urgent eye visits.

This is a professional, detail-driven optometry office, not a retail free-for-all. We do not use high-pressure sales tactics, but we do expect accuracy, accountability, and follow-through. We dispense eyewear in-house to maintain quality from exam to final delivery, which requires competence on both the clinical and optical sides. Retail sales are "low pressure" but are present.

If you are looking for a low-effort, "learn as you go" position, this is not it.

Work Environment

  • Modern, organized office
  • Business-casual dress
  • Weekday hours: 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM
  • Saturdays: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM (short, efficient clinic)
  • Calm, no-drama, patient-first culture

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary testing and diagnostics (Autorefractor, Topography, OCT, Visual Fields, Spark PD/SegHt)
  • Navigate multiple software systems accurately and efficiently throughout the day
  • Assist with medical coding and billing
  • Educate patients on contact lens insertion, removal, and care
  • Confidently assist patients with frame selection and proper fitting
  • Collect copays and payments at the time of service with accuracy
  • Dispense and adjust spectacle frames
  • Manage front desk duties including scheduling and phone calls
  • Maintain a clean, professional workspace

Requirements (Read Carefully)

  • Strong computer skills are mandatory. This role is heavily computer-based.
  • If you struggle with software, typing, data entry, or switching between systems, please do not apply
  • Prior optometry, ophthalmology, or medical office experience strongly preferred
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA, and insurance workflows
  • Solid understanding of optical products, lenses, and frame options
  • Professional communication skills and confidence working directly with patients
  • Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently without constant supervision

This Position Is Best Suited For Someone Who:

  • Takes pride in doing things correctly the first time
  • Understands that mistakes in a medical office matter
  • Can manage both clinical and optical responsibilities without being overwhelmed
  • Is looking for a stable, long-term role rather than a short-term job
