About Generations Central
Generations Central is an adult day center located on the first floor of Culpeper Baptist Church. We are open Monday-Friday. Our center provides an engaging, lively, and therapeutic daily program for senior adults who are frail, isolated, and living with dementia and other age related conditions. A highlight of our program is our intergenerational activities with children attending the Culpeper Baptist Child Development Center and a variety of other community groups. Our staff team is a small interdisciplinary team that works closely together to provide a positive an nurturing environment for our participants to enjoy their days. We are seeking a new staff member who enjoys working with senior adults and caring for others.
Must have a valid PCA or CNA certification.
Job Description
The Program Assistant:
- Facilitates and supports assigned scheduled daily activities for groups of 12 or more senior adults to support cognitive, social, emotional, spiritual, and physical well-being under the direction of the Floor Leader and Nurse Coordinator.
- Provides hands-on support to participants including personal hygiene, document and manage food intake, and minimal assistance with other activities of daily living.
- Provides input to Activities Coordinator for monthly activity planning.
- Updates participant charts on paper and on the online health system as directed.
- Consistently monitors and supervises participants throughout the day for changes in condition and responds promptly to meet needs.
- Administers medications (if qualified) as needed.
- Supports Center operations including, but not limited to, food service, cleaning, organizing supplies, and ensuring a safe environment for all participants.
- Ensures participants are fully engaged in the program by providing prompting questions, modifications to activities, and hands-on help to succeed in planned activities.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 25 pounds
- Moving, lifting or transferring of patients may involve lifting of up to 50 pounds
- Ability to exert medium muscle force to lift, push, or pull patients
- Ability to use abdominal and lower back muscles over time without fatigue
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach
- Fine motor skills
- Visual acuity
Required Qualifications
A desire to work with senior adults. Ability to lead and support recreational activities. Timely and professional. Ability to provide personal care in a dignified manner. Positive attitude. Adaptability. Ability to work on an inter-disciplinary team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or Personal Care Assistant.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with older and/or adults with a disability. MedTech Certification. Experience leading group activities for older and/or adults with a disability. CPR/First Aid certified.

The successful Candidate will be required to have a criminal conviction check.
