Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility to promote independence and comfort
  • Monitor and record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems
  • Support medication administration under supervision and ensure proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Provide specialized care for patients with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or memory impairments, including engaging activities and safety monitoring
  • Utilize assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and perform catheter care with aseptic technique to maintain patient safety and hygiene
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care plans in acute care, ICU (Intensive Care Unit), or post-acute settings
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment by adhering to infection control protocols and safety procedures during all patient interactions

Skills

  • Proven experience working with diverse patient populations including geriatrics, pediatrics, behavioral health, or individuals with disabilities
  • Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation and record keeping
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support techniques to provide effective patient care
  • Experience in specialized areas such as hospice care, trauma centers (Level I & II), emergency medicine, or ICU environments is highly valued
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy procedures and manage complex medical-surgical tasks with precision
  • Strong caregiving skills combined with excellent communication abilities to foster trust and comfort for patients and their families
  • Demonstrated understanding of HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards in all aspects of patient service
