Job Description
F5 is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Electrical Hardware Design Engineer to join our Hardware Development Team. This position will be responsible for the design, development, and documentation of complex electrical hardware for high-performance electronic systems. You will collaborate closely with other hardware engineers as well as mechanical and manufacturing teams to ensure optimal design for performance, manufacturability, test, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Uphold F5's Business Code of Ethics and promptly report violations of the Code or other company policies.
- Lead the design of electrical hardware systems, including power distribution, signal integrity, and high-speed interfaces.
- Develop and review electrical schematics for digital, analog, and mixed-signal circuits.
- Define component selection, power budgets, and design constraints to meet system requirements.
- Ensure compliance with electrical design standards, EMI/EMC requirements, and thermal management considerations.
- Perform design reviews for manufacturability, assembly, and test (DFM, DFA, DFT).
- Generate and maintain all necessary documentation, including schematics, BOMs, and test plans.
- Interface with suppliers and manufacturing partners to resolve technical issues and ensure quality.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on best practices in electrical hardware design.
- Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Understand and comply with F5 internal processes and requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in electrical hardware design for high-speed digital, analog, and mixed-signal systems.
- Proficiency with schematic capture and hardware design tools (e.g., Cadence, Altium, Mentor Graphics).
- Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, EMI/EMC, and thermal considerations.
- Experience with the following:
- Intel x86 motherboard design
- high-speed interfaces (DDR4/5, PCIe g5, Ethernet 100G/ 400G/ 800G)
- electrical design for Altera and Xilinx FPGAs
- CPU VR power supply design
- system-level integration.
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Experience with regulatory compliance (UL, CE, FCC) and reliability testing.
- Proficient with Siemens (Mentor Graphics) Xpedition Enterprise
