HVAC Technical Lead

Salary: Up to £52,000, depending on skills and experience + Overtime

As an HVAC Technical Lead, you will play a pivotal role in our dynamic team. Here’s what you can expect:

• Technical Autonomy: Utilize your expertise to provide guidance and advice to fellow professionals within your project or team.
• Prioritization: Use the programme delivery plan to prioritize team activities, ensuring we meet schedule and cost-effective goals while maintaining quality standards.
• Project Leadership: Act as the focal point for discipline-specific tasks, championing continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with our discipline strategy.
• Engineering Excellence: Deploy your high-level expertise in engineering toolsets, including CAD and information management tools, to deliver complex design activities from start to finish.
• Problem-Solving: Make informed decisions and facilitate problem-solving, guided by our policies, procedures, and business plan.
• Effective Escalation: Escalate complex design issues appropriately and advise the Detail Design Delivery Team Lead on proposed technical resolutions.
• Team Development: Identify capability gaps and development needs within the team, collaborating with the Detail Design Team Lead and Technical Specialist to address them through training plans.
• Mentorship: Support activities such as skills coaching and mentoring, contributing to management reporting.

We’re looking for candidates who bring the following:

• Experience in large-scale engineering projects or technical roles.
• A breadth and depth of specialist technical knowledge, along with broad experience in processes, data, systems, and the business environment.
• HNC/HND qualified in a technology, engineering, or science-related discipline, with vocational training (Apprenticeship, Vocational Qualifications) or equivalent experience.
• HVAC experience or Auxiliary Systems preferred, with considerable experience in an engineering or technical role.
• Preferred experience in Ship Building.

The BAE Systems Design Services HVAC Team consists of 15 talented engineers dedicated to developing and delivering HVAC design guidance, testing, commissioning, and fault finding for all current naval platforms based in Portsmouth Naval Base.

As the HVAC Technical Lead, you will support a defined range of detail design activities, ensuring we meet all relevant processes and quality requirements while providing invaluable advice and support to operations and other functions.
