As a key member of the Strategic Data Team, the Data Analyst plays a pivotal role in empowering school and district leaders with accurate, actionable insights that shape student success. Reporting to the Administrator of Strategic Data and Accountability, you'll support the design and maintenance of innovative tools that track key performance indicators aligned with district priorities. Through coaching and training on existing data tools as well as performance of ad hoc data analyses, your work will directly influence strategic decisions, from classroom instruction to district-wide initiatives.
DUTIES:
1. Work with the Strategic Data Team to provide actionable data to stakeholders throughout the district to support the work of teaching and learning.
2.Provide training, coaching, and support to schools in acquiring, analyzing, and understanding data.
3. Meet with stakeholders to understand data needs and define reporting requirements.
4. Develop new and enhance existing reports and dashboards in Power BI to meet the identified needs of stakeholders in alignment with district priorities.
5. Develop, implement, and refine as needed early warning indicators, key performance metrics, and district performance monitoring tools.
6. Provide data reporting to assist the district and individual schools in monitoring progress towards targets.
7. Promote a self-service data culture.
8. Fulfill internal and external data requests in a timely manner.
9. Query relational databases to fulfill routine and ad hoc requests with a high degree of accuracy.
10. Audit the district's state reporting data (EPIMS, SIMS, SCS, and SSDR) prior to submission.
11. Perform related work as assigned by the Administrator of Strategic Data andAccountability, Chief Information Officer, or Superintendent, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience and/or interest in K-12 education.
2. Bachelor's in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Math, or related field required (Master's preferred).
3. Experience conducting research and data analysis in a K-12 educational environment preferred.
4. Experience with designing and implementing user-friendly dashboards and reports in a data warehousing or business intelligence environment preferred.
5. Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or comparable reporting platform preferred.
6. Experience managing complex projects and effectively balancing numerous competing priorities.
7. Ability to provide advice and guidance to senior staff and to assist the Chief Information Officer and Superintendent in resolving problems of strategy, policy, and operations based on data.
8. Creativity, strategic thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills.
9. Thorough communication, presentation, and meeting facilitation skills.
10. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school officials, department heads, and the general public.
