Join Our Team as a Trials & Commissioning Engineer – Electrical!

Salary: Up to £45,500, based on your skills and experience

Location: Scotstoun – On-site

What You’ll Be Doing:

As a vital member of our team, you will:

  • Set to work on electrical marine systems and equipment across the entire ship platform, including Power and Propulsion, HVAC, Fixed Fire Fighting, LV Distribution, and more.
  • Act as an Electrical Authorised Person , ensuring safe systems of work for ship electrical systems, including isolations and safe energisation.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of electrical ship systems for handover to Commissioning, collaborating with ship Operations and Design teams.
  • Write technical documentation to support set to work and trials, including test forms and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate with equipment manufacturers , clients, and acceptance bodies to demonstrate acceptance of ship systems.
  • Utilize and analyze technical drawings and manuals to troubleshoot ship systems, working closely with design teams to resolve issues.
  • Define the scope of handover for ship electrical systems and testing requirements to align with overall program needs.
Your Skills and Experiences:

Essential:

  • Experience in Marine engineering or a similar industry.
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical systems operation and design.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to coach and mentor in a multi-disciplinary environment.
  • Capability to obtain a Seafarers Medical Certificate.
  • Relevant commissioning or marine experience.

Engineers at all levels should have an academic qualification in Engineering or related STEM subjects, along with specific qualifications to become recognized as Incorporated or Chartered Engineers through a professional institution.

We encourage and support our engineers in achieving relevant accreditation.

Preference will be given to candidates who are already professionally registered.

The Commissioning Engineering Team:

Join a large, dynamic team where you will report directly to the Senior Commissioning Team Lead. In this collaborative environment, you’ll work with key stakeholders globally, attending crucial Equipment Acceptance events within the Type 26 program.
