Senior Radiation Physicist

As a Senior Radiation Physicist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of our nuclear-powered submarine fleet. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting radiological safety assessments to protect our team and technology.
• Assessing radiation damage risk to electronics, ensuring reliability in critical systems.
• Developing and deploying cutting-edge radiation detection systems.
• Completing the systems engineering design of the secondary shielding system.
• Running and analyzing point kernel and Monte Carlo calculations.
• Providing technical advice on the impact of changes and defects across the entire submarine.
• Developing ALARP justifications to support informed design decisions.

We’re looking for candidates who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise:

• A degree in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Nuclear Science, or a related field.
• Demonstrable experience in radiation physics, nuclear engineering, or nuclear safety.
• Familiarity with radiological safety assessments and ALARP justifications.
• Experience with radiation transport methods (e.g., ATTILLA, MCBEND, MCNP).

• Designing new shields and assessing design changes during the build program.
• Conducting radiation metrology on-board during commissioning.
