We are seeking an experienced Material Handler to join our busy Des Moines, Iowa warehouse. This role is crucial for the efficient movement and organization of materials throughout our **logistics** facility. You will be responsible for operating equipment, loading and unloading shipments, and ensuring materials are stored correctly and safely. A strong focus on **safety**, precision, and productivity is expected. You will work closely with our **logistics** and operations teams to maintain optimal inventory flow and support order fulfillment. Adherence to all company **safety** standards and the mandatory use of **PPE** is paramount.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks, ensuring proper weight distribution and securement.
- Move materials to and from storage areas, production lines, and shipping docks.
- Stack, arrange, and store materials according to established **logistics** and **safety** procedures.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on material handling equipment.
- Report any equipment malfunctions or **safety** hazards to management immediately.
- Assist with inventory counts and record keeping.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
- Adhere to all **safety** regulations and **PPE** requirements.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve daily operational goals.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Experience operating various types of forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of warehouse **logistics**, inventory control, and **safety** protocols.
- Ability to **lift** up to 60 lbs.
- Proficiency in using required **PPE** at all times.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Reliable and punctual attendance.
