Certified Hand Therapy Services (CHTS) - Full-Time, In-Office

Location: Boulder, CO

Certified Hand Therapy Services (CHTS) is seeking an organized, patient-focused, and detail-oriented Front Office & Authorization Lead to manage and support our front desk operations. This role is critical to ensuring a smooth patient experience from first contact through ongoing care by overseeing reception workflows, insurance verification, and authorization management.

The ideal candidate has experience in a medical front office environment, strong communication skills, and a solid understanding of insurance benefits and prior authorizations. This is a full-time, in-office position working Monday through Friday and reporting to the Business Office Managers.

Position Overview

As the Front Office & Authorization Lead, you will be responsible for managing daily front desk operations, ensuring accurate insurance verification and authorization processes, and supporting staff to maintain efficient patient flow. You will serve as a key liaison between patients, clinical staff, and insurance carriers to ensure services are properly authorized and clearly communicated.

Responsibilities

● Front Desk & Patient Experience

○ Oversee daily front office operations, including patient check-in/check-out and

scheduling

○ Serve as the primary point of contact for patients regarding appointments,

insurance questions, and general inquiries

○ Ensure a professional, welcoming, and efficient front desk environment

○ Address patient concerns or questions and escalate issues appropriately

○ Support front office staff with training, guidance, and workflow optimization

● Authorization Management

○ Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits prior to the initial appointment

○ Obtain and track new and continuing treatment authorizations from insurance

carriers (e.g., commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, Workers' Compensation)

○ Communicate authorization statuses clearly and effectively with clinic staff and

the billing team

○ Maintain detailed and organized records of all authorization requests and

approvals

● Scheduling & Coordination

○ Coordinate scheduling to align with authorization limits and provider availability

○ Ensure patients are scheduled appropriately based on authorization approvals

○ Proactively identify authorization or eligibility issues that could impact care

● Administrative & Team Support

○ Collaborate closely with billing and clinical teams to ensure front-end accuracy

○ Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend improvements

○ Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.

Qualifications

● Experience:

○ Prior experience in a medical front office, patient access, or authorization role

required

○ Supervisory or lead front desk experience preferred

● Education:

○ High school diploma or equivalent required

○ College coursework or degree preferred

● Skills & Attributes:

○ Strong knowledge of insurance verification and prior authorization processes

○ Excellent verbal and written communication skills

○ High level of organization and attention to detail

○ Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment

○ Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel); EMR/Practice Management

experience preferred

○ Professional demeanor with a patient-centered mindset

○ Ability to work independently and collaboratively

Compensation and Benefits

● Salary: $18-$28 per hour, commensurate with experience.

● Hours: Full-Time, Monday - Friday, in-office

Pay: $ $28.00 per hour
