Oculoplastics - also known as oculoplastic surgery - is the subspecialty of ophthalmology that centers on surgical and reconstructive procedures of the eyelids, tear drainage system (lacrimal), orbit (eye socket), and adjacent facial structures.

We are looking for a compassionate and detail-oriented Surgical Patient Coordinator to join our team. This role goes beyond just scheduling procedures—you'll play a vital part in guiding patients through their surgical journey, ensuring they feel informed, supported, and cared for every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule surgeries and assist in scheduling pre-op and post-op appointments
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorizations
  • Communicate with patients regarding surgery prep and recovery instructions
  • Coordinate lab work, imaging, and required medical clearances
  • Update and maintain patient information in EHR systems
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, providers, and surgical centers
  • Assist with referrals and ensure all required documentation is complete

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements.

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • 2+ years in a surgical scheduling or healthcare admin role or
  • 1–2 years of experience in a medical office
  • Experience with insurance verification and prior authorizations
  • Proficient in Electronic Health Records
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm under pressure
  • Friendly, patient-focused attitude
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required;
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel to from Elmhurst to Des Plaines and Hoffman Estates offices as needed
  • Considered a Plus:
  • CMA or similar certification
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and surgical procedures relating to ophthalmic, oculoplastics or plastic surgery
  • Experience with Modernizing Medicine as an EMR system and/or Epic

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 32 – 40 per week
