HDC owns and/or manages over 3,200 apartments, providing housing that is safe and affordable to those with lower incomes, focusing on seniors, families, and individuals living with disabilities. Position Summary:
The Operations Manager supports the Property Management Department by supervising the Traveling Managers and overseeing a variety of operational and administrative functions. The role is responsible for coordination, documentation, project management, and program support to ensure consistent departmental operations.
Operations & Departmental Support
- Coordinate and organize departmental operational activities, schedules, and follow-up items.
- Supervise Traveling Managers, including workload planning, assignment review, and ongoing coordination.
- Maintain department tracking systems, project lists, calendars, and organizational tools.
- Assist with departmental work plans, project plans, timelines, and related data tracking.
- Prepare reports, summaries, meeting materials, and department-wide updates.
- Assist with updating forms, procedures, and departmental materials.
Program & Documentation Coordination
- Maintain documentation, deadlines, and follow-up requirements for departmental programs.
- Organize materials and information needed for program/grant submissions.
Project Management
- Manage assigned projects from initiation through completion, including timelines, documentation, and deliverables.
- Prepare agendas, materials, and updates for departmental meetings and planning sessions.
Bond Deals, HOP Grants & Funding Programs
- Coordinate required documentation and submissions for bond deals, HOP grants, and related funding programs.
- Track deadlines, reporting requirements, and program milestones.
Administrative & Reporting Functions
- Prepare operational summaries, dashboards, and written materials for the department.
- Maintain organized departmental files, project folders, and documentation systems.
- Support departmental meetings through preparation of agendas, materials, and follow-up tracking.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist during urgent operational situations requiring department-level coordination.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education, experience, and special requirements:
High School Diploma
Three Years of Property Management Experience
Core Competencies (skills, knowledge, or abilities):
- Experience in property management operations, program coordination, or administrative support preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience supervising or coordinating staff preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Yardi.
- Ability to travel to properties as needed.

Normal work environment:
Primarily office-based with occasional property visits, 2 days hybrid offered in accordance with HDC current policy.
May require walking properties and climbing stairs during onsite work.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required in case of an emergency
- May require up to 30% travel
