The
Community Accountant
is a key team member responsible for providing accounting and guidance to community management as it relates to the overall activities and programs of the community.

Essential Functions

  • Prepares and presents financial statements and related reports (including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports/projections, and variance analysis).
  • Working directly with Business Office Managers and Executive Directors to identify and resolve issues.
  • Responding promptly to requests for supporting financial information and ad hoc reports and helping with special projects (e.g., Pulling audit samples).
  • Responding to resident refunds and consistent follow-up to ensure refunds are processed on a timely basis within the guidelines of the applicable state.
  • General ledger accounts posting and maintaining the general ledger.
  • Process journal entries for accruals and prepayment.
  • Analyze various transactions and identify appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Payroll processing and reporting, (Paylocity).
  • Post monthly resident adjustments & ancillary charges.
  • Record cash receipts, late fees, and resident write-offs.
  • Post monthly recurring charges to residents of assigned communities.
  • Maintain rent increases on a timely basis.
  • Monthly and quarterly, all applicable tax reporting is as per the state guidelines.
