JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for the day-to-day Projects and Contracts Management operations of Samsung SDI America Energy Storage Solutions.
The position (i) directly manages complex project & contract executions to deliver projects on-time, on-budget and to customer satisfaction locally in the region, (ii) for pre-contract-award, support sales and business development team from a contractual standpoint to achieve order intake and revenue objectives for the region while ensuring proper project contract setup for successful project execution, (iii) supports after sales, warranty and maintenance services complex claims from a contractual standpoint to customer satisfaction, and (iv) coordinate all above contractual and project management activity in close collaboration and support from Korean Headquarter legal and project management teams
ESSENTIAL ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ongoing projects' and contracts' execution duties include:
(i) act as the regional local project manager and direct point of contact for local customers, partners and subcontractors to successfully deliver large and complex energy storage projects on-time, on-budget and to customers satisfaction (including commercial and technical aspects, from project kick-off to, customers' expectations management, project delays identification-communication-management, mobilization, technical, commercial, schedule development-management, logistic, milestones setting-management, resources identification-assignment, tasks dependencies, project closeout, demobilization, budget change requests, change orders), (ii) closely coordinate with Korean Headquarter project managers team on project's execution
in charge of all internal processes, and (iii) identify lessons learned and best practices on each project execution and consolidate in standard contracts, risk management and legal policies with Korean Headquarter legal team for future projects' successes.
Pre-contract-award contractual support duties include
:
(i) analyze customers/partners standard contracts and apply Samsung SDI project-contract management risk and legal policies into contract red-lines while addressing customers/partners highest priority concerns to secure the deals, (ii) directly negotiate contract Project Management related red-lines with customers/partners key decision makers to reach a mutually agreeable contract and expedite contract signing, (iii) for customers/partners without standard contracts, continuously improve and leverage Samsung SDI standard contracts while addressing customers highest priority concerns to secure the deals, and (iv) support the approval process of contract terms deviations with Korean Headquarters using the appropriate delegation of authorities.
After project completion, warranties and maintenance services contractual support duties include:
(i) remain on top of Samsung SDI's contractual obligations under warranties and maintenance services for critical project integration and project management issues (non-simple-RMA) for all of our live contracts to ensure prompt guidance to Customer Service Engineering team supporting our customers/partners (including commercial and technical aspects), (ii) in case of critical warranties claims from customers, participate in claim review and confirm claim validity to promptly address customer's needs and (iii) identify lessons learned and best practices on each warranties and maintenance service contract and consolidate in standard contracts, risk management and legal policies with our Headquarter legal team for future projects' successes.
REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- BS, MS in Engineering and/or equivalent experience (MBA, PMP, PE, Paralegal is a plus)
- Minimum 5 years business and technical experience in a related industry such as Power Generation/Renewable Energy/Transmission/Distribution, Energy Storage, Large-Scale Construction, or other related industry
- Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States and a driver's license
- Excellent energy industry contracts crafting and management skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, fluid and high growth environment
- Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills, with a high-level of creativity within uncompromised integrity
- Self-starter mentality with strong interpersonal, technical, analytic and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated focus on complex missions and projects successes and on customer satisfaction
- Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills in a multi-cultural environment
- Exceptional relationship skills are also required as well as well-rounded influence and negotiation skills with challenging customers, partners and stakeholders
- Must be able to establish and grow relationships with primary and executive-level contacts, internally and with customers & partners
- Full proficiency in MS Office, and Project Management software (i.e. MS Project)
- Must be able to carry office boxes and standards batteries related equipment and reach for such equipment when elevate
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electrical, Chemical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or Equivalent Engineering degree. Contracts law or paralegal equivalent degree or experience
- Written and verbal communication skills in Korean are a plus
- Previous utility-scale or commercial & industrial solar/battery technical and project implementation experience preferred

- Assist with the preparation of risk assessments
- Before commencing work or research, a risk assessment should be conducted to identify, assess and control the hazards associated with the work or research. This should be conducted in conjunction with other relevant staff, researchers and the supervisor

- Report workplace hazards to the supervisor as soon as possible after they occur
- Report injury or illness arising from workplace activities using the incident/injury reporting system as soon as possible after the incident
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective actions
- Complete monthly H&S inspections
