Under the direction of the Manager of Member Services, the Communications and Public Relations Coordinator is responsible for managing external-facing communication channels and supporting outreach efforts that strengthen member understanding, engagement, and satisfaction. This role supports communications, community engagement, energy services, and event coordination activities for the cooperative.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, design, edit, and coordinate the production and distribution of member communications and publications
- Manage content layout and messaging across multiple communication platforms
- Support community engagement efforts, including events, safety demonstrations, youth and school programs, and scholarship activities
- Assist with energy services, including rebate processing, documentation, and responding to member inquiries related to efficiency and net metering
- Assist with planning and execution of cooperative events such as the annual meeting, member picnic, and employee functions
- Support Board meeting preparation and coordination
- Represent MCREA in a professional and positive manner at community and public events
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid Colorado driver's license
- Two (2) or more years of experience in communications, marketing, and/or public relations, or equivalent education and experience
- Experience with photography and videography
- Ability to successfully complete random drug and alcohol testing
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
- Experience in the electric or energy industry
- Experience in public relations activities such as media relations, press releases, social media management, speech writing, crisis communications, and brand management
- Experience with website management and graphic design platforms

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Effective public speaking abilities
- Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills
- Creative, innovative mindset with attention to detail
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills with a collaborative and service-oriented approach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and related technology tools
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and professionalism
Working Conditions & Requirements
- Combination of office work, event participation, and community engagement
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as required
- Must maintain a professional, business-appropriate appearance
- Position is non-exempt and eligible for overtime in accordance with FLSA and cooperative policy
